 This eighth day of the fourth lunar month marks the joyous anniversary of the guru of three realms, the compassionate father of the four forms of birth – the fundamental Master, Shakyamuni Buddha. This day is named as the Buddha bathing festival, a most auspicious and significant festive day of the year in the eyes of the Buddha’s disciples. 

As documented in the Karunā-pundarīka-sūtra: When the Buddha was Brahman Bao Hai in his past life, he made five hundred vows in the presence of Bao Zang Tathagata, to attain the Way in the world of five turbidities. 

When the Buddha descended upon the mortal world, one of his hand pointed toward the sky, the other hand pointed toward the ground:

“I am chief of the world,

Eldest am I in the world,

Foremost am I in the world.

This is the last birth.

There is now no more coming to be.”

Bringing with him unto our earth the blessings & merits accumulated through endless kalpas, manifesting the attainment of Buddha-hood, he brings the beacon of wisdom to mankind.

Questo ottavo giorno del quarto mese lunare segna il gioioso anniversario del guru dei tre regni, il padre compassionevole delle quattro forme di nascita: il Maestro fondamentale, Shakyamuni Buddha. Questo giorno è chiamato la festa del bagno del Buddha, un giorno festivo più propizio e significativo dell'anno agli occhi dei discepoli del Buddha.

Come documentato nel Karunā-pundarīka-sūtra: Quando il Buddha era Brahman Bao Hai nella sua vita passata, fece cinquecento voti alla presenza di Bao Zang Tathagata, per raggiungere la Via nel mondo delle cinque torbidità.

Ce huitième jour du quatrième mois lunaire marque le joyeux anniversaire du guru des trois royaumes, le père compatissant des quatre formes de naissance - le maître fondamental Shakyamuni Bouddha. Ce jour est est également connu comme la fête du bain du Bouddha, un jour de fête des plus propices et des plus significatifs de l'année aux yeux des disciples du Bouddha.

Comme le documente le Karunā-pundarīka-sūtra : lorsque le Bouddha était Brahman Pohai dans sa vie passée, il fit cinq cents vœux devant le Pohai Tathagata, pour atteindre la Voie dans le monde des cinq turbidités.

Lorsque le Bouddha est descendu dans le monde des mortels, une de ses mains a pointé vers le ciel, l'autre vers le sol :

" Je suis le chef du monde,

Je suis l'aîné du monde,

Je suis le plus grand du monde".

En apportant avec lui sur notre terre les bénédictions et les mérites accumulés au cours d'interminables kalpas, en manifestant l'atteinte de l'état de Bouddha, il apporte le phare de la sagesse à l'humanité.

Am achten Tag des vierten Monats des Mondkalenders, wird der Geburtstag vom Guru der Trailokya (drei Welten), dem gütigen Vater der Caturyoni (vier Arten der Geburt) und dem wahren Lehrer Shakyamuni Buddha gefeiert.

Dieser Tag wird auch als Buddha-Badenfestival bezeichnet, das verheißungsvollste und wichtigste Fest des Jahres

für Buddhisten.

„Kurunapundarika-Sutram“ berichtet:

Als Buddha in einem früheren Leben Brahman Bao Hai war, legte er vor dem Tathagata Bao Zang fünfhundert Gelübde ab, dass er Bodhi in zukünftiger Pancakasayha (die Welt der fünf Trübungen) zu erlangen.

Der Buddha wurde in diese Welt hineingeboren, mit einer Hand Richtung Himmel gerichtet und die andere zur Erde,

und verkündete:

„Vorzüglichster, bin ich über Himmel und Erde hinaus“.

Er kam auf diese Welt mit dem Verdienst von unermesslichem Äon, zeigte den Werdegang eines Buddhas und brachte der Menschheit ein Leuchtfeuer der Weisheit.

旧暦の四月八日は、いよいよ三界(さんがい)導師(どうし)、四生(よんせい)(卵生(らんせい)、胎生(たいせい)、湿生(しっせい)、化生(かせい))慈父(じふ)である本師(ほんし)お釈迦牟尼仏(しゃかむにぶつ)の聖(せい)なる降誕(ごうたん)になります。この日は、灌仏会(かんぶつえ)（浴仏会(よくふつえ)）とも呼ばれ、仏弟子(ぶつでし)にとっては、一年中最も吉祥(きちじょう)（めでたい）で、最も大切な祭りである。

『慈華経(ひけきょう)』には、 このように記載(きさい)されています。「お釈迦様の前世(ぜんせ)であった宝海(ほうかい)という梵志(ぼんし)（Brahmacārin　清浄な行いを志(こころざし)にしている行者(ぎょうしゃ)）は、宝蔵如来(ほうぞうにょらい)のもとで、５００大願(たいがん)を祈誓(きせい)し、将来五濁悪世(ごじょくあくせ)の中で成仏するようにと祈願(きがん)しました。」とあります。

ブッダは人間に降誕(ごうたん)された時に、片手(かたて)で天を指し、片手で地を指し、「天上(てんじょう)地下(ちか)唯我独尊(ゆいがどくそん)」（この「我」とは仏様で、つまり我々一人一人備わっている仏性のことで、天上天下においては、仏性(ぶっしょう)だけが尊(とうと)いということだ。）と仰った。お釈迦牟尼仏は無量劫(むりょうごう)にわたって修行して積み重ねてきた福徳(ふくとく)を持ちながら、我々の地球上にお越しになられ、成仏(じょうぶつ)を示して、人類(じんるい)に知恵の燈明(とうみょう)をもたらしてくださった。
