This week, meat brand Hormel launched its plant-based brand Happy Little Plants, marking its entry into the booming plant-based meat industry. The brand’s flagship product is a non-GMO soy-based meat it labels as “Unseasoned Plant-Based Ground Product” that it says cooks similar to ground beef or turkey.

本周,肉类品牌公司荷美尔(Hormel)的植物肉品牌“快乐的小植物”(Happy Little Plants)正式登场亮相,标志着这家公司踏入了蓬勃发展的植物肉行业。该品牌的旗舰产品为采用非转基因大豆材料制作的植物肉,产品标签上注明是“未加调料的植物肉碎产品”;据该公司介绍,可以像碎牛肉或绞火鸡肉那样对其进行方便烹调。

“We are continuing to build an organization that has the agility and adaptability to create products to align with today’s dynamic marketplace,” Jim Splinter, Group Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Hormel Foods, said.

Hormel’s plant-based ground meat is now available at select Hy-Vee markets in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, with greater distribution planned for coming months. 

在爱荷华州、堪萨斯州、明尼苏达州、密苏里州、内布拉斯加州、威斯康星州,荷美尔现选定了一些海威超市来售卖其植物肉碎产品,并计划在未来的几个月里扩大分销范围。

A number of traditional meat companies have launched plant-based meat products in recent months, including Hormel’s biggest competitor Smithfield Foods which will begin rolling out its Pure Farmland plant-based line—which includes breakfast patties, dairy-free-cheese-stuffed burgers, meatballs, and more—at retailers nationwide this month.

最近几个月里,多家传统肉类公司都纷纷推出了各自的植物肉产品,其中包括荷美尔的最大竞争对手史密斯菲尔德食品公司(Smithfield Foods)。在这个月,该公司将通过全美零售店开始推广其“纯净农田”(Pure Farmland)品牌的植物肉产品系列,囊括了早餐肉饼、无乳奶酪做馅料的汉堡肉饼、肉丸等植物肉产品。
