明生大和尚在第十四届联合国卫塞节致贺词
今天，主题为“佛教对社会正义与可持续世界和平的教导”的第十四届联合国“卫赛节”在著名的中国法显大师曾经驻锡的美丽狮子国隆重召开。而今年又是中华人民共和国与斯里兰卡民主社会主义共和国建交60周年。在此，我谨代表中国佛教协会，代表联合国卫塞节国际理事会副主席、中国佛教协会会长学诚大和尚，并以我个人的名义，向来自世界各地的法门兄弟，向斯里兰卡人民恭贺节日快乐，法喜充满!
我们在此举行“卫赛节”庆祝活动，纪念佛陀诞生、成道、涅盘，感恩佛陀给人间带来智慧光明，赐予众生离苦得乐之道，施与净化人心之法，利益社会正义和可持续世界和平之真谛。
回顾以往，卫塞节庆典除两次在越南外，主要都在泰国召开。今天，来自九十多个国家和地区的法门兄弟首次集会在古称狮子国的斯里兰卡，共同庆祝第十四届国际“卫赛节”，弘扬佛陀“慈悲、智慧、平等、圆融”的教义，缅怀法显大师、不空金刚大师等前辈先贤的功德伟业，我们更加有理由相信：在斯里兰卡政府的大力支持下，在各国高僧大德的共同努力下，本届联合国“卫赛节”庆祝活动一定会功德圆满，必将为社会正义和可持续的世界和平做出应有的贡献。

A Message of Congratulation to the 14th United Nations Day of Vesak2017

Today, the 14th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration with the theme of “Buddhist teachings for social justice and sustainable world peace” held in the beautiful country of Lion in which the Chinese Master Fa Xian once stayed for 2 years. This year, it is also 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relationship between the Peoples’ Republic of China and the Democratic Socialist republic of Sri Lanka. I, in herewith, on behalf of the Buddhist Association of China, on behalf of Most Ven. Xue Cheng, the president of BAC and vice -chairman of UNICDV, would like to, in the name of mine, express our congratulations of “Happy Festival and Full of Dharma Bliss” to all the Buddhists from different countries and regions and to the great Sri Lankan people!
We gathered here to participate the UNDV2017 to memorize the birth, enlightenment and nirvana of the Lord Buddha, to express thanksgiving to the Buddha who compassionately brought wisdom and light to the world, to express thanksgiving to him for his granting all beings the way of ending sufferings and achieving joy, and to express thanksgiving to him for his truth and wonderful teachings to purify human beings’ mind, to benefit social justice and sustainable world peace.
Looking backward, the UNDV was mainly held for in Thailand with exceptions of two times in Vietnam. Today, so many Dharma brothers from more than 90 countries and regions come to Sri Lanka that was called Lion Country in the past, to celebrated the UNDV2017, to promote the Lord Buddha’s teachings of mercy, wisdom, equality, and tolerance , to remember great merit of those masters of past generations such as Fa Xian, Amoga. We believe and we are sure that the UNDV2017 can make a full success with the leadership of Sri Lankan government and with the great efforts of maha sanghas from all of the world. And undoubtedly, this UNDV2017 will make contribute a lot to the social justice and sustainable world peace.
