Campaign Coordinator for China
Position Objective:
Coordinate PETA Asia’s work with activists, celebrities, and the media in order to bring attention to animal rights issues throughout China with a youth focus.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Coordinate and manage a media plan and an agenda of celebrity events, campaign protests, and other campaign issues that can be done in China
Encourage and facilitate activism across China by communicating with activists, encouraging them to be active in behalf of animals
Regularly update and maintain a China media database
Develop a plan to educate young people about animal rights
Develop and manage cutting-edge campaigns against companies and industries that abuse animals
Organize and maintain a database of local celebrities, and develop ideas to increase their involvement in animal issues
Help send out news releases in China, make follow-up calls to the media, and work to keep PETA Asia’s campaigns in the media spotlight
Coordinate the production of Chinese versions of PETA ads and the translation of materials, as needed
Do media interviews and/or direct media calls to the appropriate PETA representative(s)
Assist with demonstrations or photo shoots, when needed
Travel for demonstrations, speaking engagements, and other events, as needed
Help with other campaigns, as needed, and work on special projects, as assigned by the director
Qualifications:
Passion for fighting cruelty to animals and desire and willingness to participate in provocative campaigns
Outgoing and personable manner with exceptional communication skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Fluency in English and Chinese
Must be a self-starter who can deal with multiple and various tasks at once

Celebrity Liaison for China
Position Objective:
To coordinate PETA Asia’s celebrity-based campaigns in mainland China.

Stay informed about celebrity and Internet celebrity news and gossip
Approach celebrities or their management in order to garner support for PETA’s campaigns
Manage celebrity campaign projects, maintaining communication between all relevant parties at PETA Asia and foreign affiliates
Coordinate print and video public service announcement concepts for celebrity campaigns
Coordinate celebrity photo shoots and other support efforts
Maintain a database of celebrities and coordinate mailings to celebrities

Digital Marketing Coordinator for China
Position Objectives:
To develop and deliver the digital strategy for PETA Asia.
To manage the complex and diverse online marketing projects that promote the organization’s mission.

Develop and execute strategies to help PETA Asia’s Web content reach new audiences
Generate content for PETA Asia’s digital assets, including website articles, online advocacy and pledges, on PETACN

Monitor and improve the user experience and search-engine friendliness of content across digital assets
Plan and execute PETA Asia’s online advertising efforts

Science Policy Advisor for China
Position Objective:
To oversee PETA Asia’s work with the authorities in mainland China and to build relationships that bring about positive change for animals
To execute research, policy, and campaigns support relating to the use of animals in experiments

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead meetings with officials of all levels, including those in government, and prepare and deliver presentations in order to make the case for animal-welfare changes
Attend scientific conferences, communicate with scientists on specific issues relating to casework, and write related reports
Work with government agencies and meet with corporate executives on animal-protection issues, primarily those relating to animal testing
Collaborate with the professors, education administrators, and other members of the scientific and academic communities to expand and promote animal-friendly policies and projects
Independently research and interpret a variety of scientific issues and other issues related to animal testing in order to further PETA’s goals
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of non-animal testing methods
Consult with PETA US’ Regulatory Testing and Laboratory Investigations departments for ideas on campaign activities to reduce or eliminate the testing of animals in laboratories, including those at universities
Study and analyze national Chinese laws, regulations, and government policies affecting animals in order to put together factsheets, reports, comments, correspondence, and other documentation to present to the relevant authorities to seek support of PETA’s projects in mainland China
Answer correspondence with timely and appropriate follow-up

Qualifications:
At least an undergraduate degree in a relevant science such as toxicology, pharmacology, or a closely-related field
Extensive knowledge of animal issues, including animal testing, alternatives to the use of animals, and regulatory requirements in experimentation
Experience in building relations with government officials and/or business leaders
Understanding of Chinese government structure, regulations, policy, reporting procedures, and work processes

Edit other staffers’ work and writing in Chinese
